Dear Churches and Leaders:

As officers of our Colorado Baptists’ Convention, we want to communicate some very important issues that will affect Colorado Baptists. At last year’s annual Southern Baptist Convention, the messengers approved the appointment of the Great Commission Resurgence Task Force made up of pastors and leaders around our nation. In February, the Task Force gave its first progress report. This can either be viewed or read here: http://www.pray4gcr.com.

This proposal contains many components that, if adopted, will affect the way ministry and church planting is done in our state. We want to encourage all Colorado Baptists to take the time to read and study the report. We officers are available to the best of our ability to help answer your questions or direct you to resources that can help you.

The Southern Baptist Convention in Orlando, on June 15-16, will be the most crucial and pivotal annual meeting in recent history. We want to encourage you, as Colorado Baptist churches, to send messengers to this meeting so that we have great representation from our state. Your input and vote can help determine the course we, as Southern Baptists, take in the near future to see a Great Commission Resurgence.

On May 2nd, the Task Force will release its final report that will determine the components that will be voted on at the Southern Baptist Convention in June.

We write this letter in a spirit of encouragement so that our Colorado Baptist family will be well informed and so that you may individually vote your conscience in Orlando. Would you commit to pray for the Great Commission Resurgence Task Force as they seek God’s will for our future? Would you be in prayer for us as Colorado Baptists that we would seek the Lord’s will as well?

Below is a list of on-line resources that will help your understanding of the progress report. We, as officers, in no way agree with everything in these resources or endorse one over the other. We simply want to make the information available to you.

Sincerely in Christ,

Sean Cole, President

Doug Allen, 1st Vice-President

Rand Clark, 2nd Vice-President
