What is the ultimate goal for God’s Plan for Sharing (GPS)?
The goal of “God’s Plan for Sharing” (GPS) is to fulfill the Great Commission in North America by Every believer sharing and Every person hearing by 2020. This journey is guided by a process with four biblical markers:
Carry out a simple plan during GPS.First, create a church brochure with an invitation to your church for Easter services.
Next prayer walk a specific area of your ministry field. Then take the Gospel message through a door hanger including a FindItHere brochure back to the areas your church has prayer walked and include your church brochure/invitation. Finally, follow-up immediately and long-term with those you have met through the blitz.
Ten Steps for Preparing Your Church to Reach Across Colorado
Pray! Mobilize your church to pray for all lost people in your community and your church’s efforts to reach them. Determine your territory.
Determine which homes your church will touch through prayer and the Find It Here Gospel distribution. Check with your association to identify other participating churches so as not to overlap efforts.
Order Across North America materials. The first item you’ll need is the Pastor/Church Preparation Guide. You can download this for free at www.gps2020.net or order a copy for a small fee by calling (866) 407-6262, (866) 407-6262. You’ll also need to order plastic bags and Find It Here Gospel drop-in pieces from your association or state convention at cmdonie@coloradobaptists.org —or find contact information at www.gps2020.net. Be sure to order enough for each home in your territory. You can also order church promotional items such as stand-up banners, outdoor banners, postcard invitations, bulletin inserts and many other items from Outreach, Inc at www.Outreach.com: search “Find it Here.”
Update your church’s profile. Visit www.sbc.net and view your church’s listing, and if necessary, correct your church’s information. Churches can make changes to their online information anytime using their 7-digit SBC ID# (the same number used for the Annual Church Profile) by going to http://churchsearch.net. Be sure the address listed is your physical address and not a P.O. Box. Those looking for church homes during this campaign will be sent to this website to find churches in their area. If a state convention has a larger number of churches to update (say, more than 25), each convention can send the changes in an Access database format and this information will be made current within the Find A Church/ChurchSearch database. To download an Access database template that includes all the required fields, go to http://cdb.sbc.net. If you choose to send an Access, you will need to fill in the complete information for that church, not just the information that changed. Information provided through this Access database will replace the current online listing.
Become an ERC Covenant Church. The information from individuals contacting the Evangelism Response Center is sent to Covenant Churches for follow-up. If your church is equipped and registered as a Covenant Church then the contact information of people accepting Christ in your area will come to you. For more information about Covenant Churches call (770) 410-6383, (770) 410-6383 or email erc@namb.net.
Provide your congregation with evangelism training. The Across North America Campaign is an opportunity to equip your congregation to share the Gospel. Visit www.gps2020.com for ideas and materials to help you equip your church in evangelism or contact Ron Clement of Colorado Baptists at rclement@coloradobaptists.org.
Prepare your church for company. Easter Sunday will be a day when many people come and visit for the first time. Remember, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Be sure this isn’t their last time visiting by preparing to welcome and incorporate visitors into your activities and services.
Keep it simple. Adding extra steps to this tested process only weakens the campaign. Across North America is four simple steps:
A three-week targeted media saturation taking place March 20 – April 11, 2010 (TV, radio, billboards, newspapers, etc).
Participating churches prayerwalking their communities on the weekend of March 20, 2010.
Participating churches on March 27, 2010 distributing clear bags containing a Find It Here Gospel drop-in piece and an invitation to your Easter services to each home in your territory.
Participating churches conducting a five-week follow-up process after Easter.
Make Easter Sunday (April 4) special. Because of your prayer and hands-on work to distribute the Gospel, many lost people will be at your Easter Sunday services. Take full advantage of this time by clearly presenting the Gospel and providing an opportunity for people to respond.
Celebrate what God has done. Host a baptism celebration, reflect with thanksgiving on the changed lives, praise God for the number of believers trained, and rejoice about the revival experienced in your community. Let God continue this transformation in your heart, your church and your community.

Order necessary resources: Your partnership with Colorado Baptists allows us the means of providing the number of FindItHere gospel brochures and door hangers necessary to blitz your area. We’ve included a sample of the brochure for your use to show it to others. All you need to do is fill out the enclosed order form for the number of plastic doorhanging bags and FindItHere brochures you need to make this initial blitz of your community. Once you’ve done this, we will get your order to you in a timely fashion.
Sign up to say you’re on board: Fill out the participation section on the order form by January 15th so that we’ll know you are committed to taking the Gospel across Colorado; committed to partnering with other Colorado Baptists and, so we can begin getting your order ready. This will not only allow us to know you are a partner in this specific evangelism effort but will allow us to keep your church before the Father in prayer.
You will note a section on the order form called “Assistance and Cooperation.” You need to know there are numerous, qualified individuals in local churches, associations, and your state convention who are willing to assist you with training and to answer any of your questions. In addition, there are many excellent training materials available for you in the area of prayer and evangelism. Please contact us if you need some assistance.
In addition, there is an opportunity for members of your church to participate in evangelism by being trained as an Evangelism Response Center (ERC) phone counselor. These individuals will respond to those who call into the 1-800 number seeking spiritual help after seeing a TV FindItHere.com commercial or receiving a Bible or tract. We have individuals who can provide training in telephone counseling.
Below are several “God Stories” and comments from those participating in the 2009 Pilot:
From Pastor Michael Pigg, Philadelphia Baptist Church, Stone Mountain Baptist Association… I do believe that the process of distributing gospel literature (coupled with prayer) on the days prior to Easter was the one significant reason for the huge Easter attendance in the life of the Philadelphia Baptist Church. God moved in miraculous ways!
From a pastor’s perspective, the greatest value of the pilot was to see the congregations of our Association energized and mobilized to connect with the people in their communities.
From Associate Director of Missions Ed Sena, Lubbock Area Baptist Association… I was moved to tears when I learned that a 94 year old saint took her walker and distributed gospel literature in her neighborhood. In addition, a young mother had her 4 year old assisting her with the hanging of gospel bags at the door. From ages 4 to 94, it brought great joy to our people to be involved in such a simultaneous effort.
From Paul Eshelman, an Observer of www.FinditHere.com in Corona, California, Inland Empire Baptist Association… I heard of your site on the radio. I peeked in expecting some cult from the enemy. What a wonderful and refreshing thing to see God's most beautiful gift honestly shared. I just wanted to write to thank you and to let you know that I too will pray to our Father through His perfect Lamb for your great successes in this ministry. Thank you so much! Your brother in Christ, Paul.
From Pastor Brian King, Ezekiel Baptist Church, Moderator, Greater Philadelphia Baptist Association… Our reputation within the community went up. Neighbors commented positively about our presence. A Muslim said that he wanted to work with our church. When introducing ourselves to a neighbor she said enthusiastically, “I know exactly who you are!” Taking the message of “Find It Here” to the streets of Philadelphia has made a lasting impact for some time to come.
From Bob Hylton, Associational Director of Missions, Greater Philadelphia Baptist Association (In email sent to Dr. Ken Weathersby, Senior Strategist for Evangelism, NAMB)… Dear Ken, Thank you for inviting Philadelphia to participate in the GPS Pilot for 2009. The process has produced tremendous benefits to our work and has helped our churches really pull together around evangelism in the Philadelphia region.
