Evangelism Made Real

Without a doubt one of the most exciting things to be a part of is leading someone to faith in Jesus Christ. As I discovered this past month, a close second would be seeing someone you have been discipling lead someone to Christ for the very first time ever. I remember when Mark and I first talked about sharing Christ. It was a foreign thought to him, and he was reluctant to go there.

After a few months of studying the Scripture together it was obvious that God was at work in Mark’s heart. He began to think about the call of God to take the Gospel to a lost world. The fact that God wanted to and could use Mark was a brand new thought to him. I will never forget the day that Mark stopped by the house and said, “Bill, I think that God is at work in Kristen’s heart”.

After asking him how he came to that conclusion and hearing his response, it was evident that God was in fact at work in this young lady’s heart. Mark asked, “What should I do?” I told him to pray and be ready to share with her how to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. I also encouraged him to challenge the young lady to read through the book of John. He did, and so did she. After about 3 months Kristen called Mark and said, “This is exactly what I need”. Surprised, Mark responded by asking, “What are you talking about?” Kristen said, “I need a relationship with Jesus Christ.” After a few follow up discussions and help from another Christian lady, Mark was able to see Kristen come to faith in Christ.
