God worked many wondrous things through His servants of the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. Teams from all across America have responded to the Lord's call and traveled to the city of Minot, North Dakota.
Some worked as Chaplains, some in mud-out operations, some operated mobile kitchens and laundry units and some in the Incident Command Center. Colorado Baptists Disaster Relief sent a team of 11 workers the week of July 30-August 7. Three members of this team served in a chaplain role, while the remaining eight team members worked in mud-out recovery. There were 19 professions of faith and several re-dedications as of our departure. Our mud-out team spent four days completing one home that had been started by a different team. We then started a second job before being re-assigned to assessment duties. We completed three home assessments before our departure.
I was very blessed during this time. The Lord allowed all of us the opportunity to share His word and to pray with many of the people affected by this disaster. When I have deployed in the past, I always received more of a blessing than those who I went to help, and this was no exception. It is an opportunity for me to draw closer to the Lord.
I wish to thank all the individuals who rallied around the team from GVBA with their prayers and financial support. I especially would like to thank Orchard Mesa Baptist Church for the loan of a vehicle, equipment and other financial support. Thank you to GVBA for loan of a trailer and Monument Baptist Church for their financial support. Many thanks to the Senior Adult Class of Bookcliff Baptist Church for their financial support and to all the many people who asked not to be identified for their financial support.
