Minister's Care

Confidential Counseling and Consulting

Ministers and their family members are not exempt from the stresses that other families experience, however, they often face additional ones.  This is particularly true for many of our ministers in Colorado as they are often separated from family, friends, and oftentimes operate under very difficult financial challenges.  In addition to these stresses, ministers may also experience challenges such as:

  • Stress in their ministry setting
  • Burnout
  • Family difficulties and challenges
  • Congregational conflict
  • Moral choices

LifeSkills for Congregations

LifeSkills for Congregations is a resource developed by the Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy Department, which was designed to help communicate needs to churches and to ministers regarding potentially challenging areas for each.  It was designed around five themes.  The key themes and some of the chapter headings are included below:

Finding Holy in Colorado

By Tree Cooper

I am trying to do a better job of recognizing the holy in this place.

Moses sees the bush encompassed in flames and yet, not consumed.  If it were me, I would have put that on my resume.  "God wants me this badly!"  But Moses, instead, is called to take off his sandals.  God is present.  Moses is standing on holy ground.

An altar in the middle of a river, a prison cell revival, the belly of a great fish.  The living room while Martha is in the kitchen.  The Child born of a virgin.  The cross.

All these places are holy; holy because of the presence of Christ.

This process is useful for the individual entering ministry, those who are serving in ministry and are seeking guidance and counsel for future ministry opportunities, s well as those in crisis. The process involves the completion of an autobiography and several personality and psychological instruments. A fee is assessed for this service.
